Adding a search function to your website shouldn't be so hard—or so expensive.
I wanted to add a fast, full-text search feature to a website I was working on. When researching all the available options, they all had their own pitfalls and deal-breakers:
Alternative | Issue(s) |
---|---|
Algolia |
|
Google Programmable Search Engine (formerly Custom Search) |
|
Creating a bespoke solution |
|
Easysearch was born out of a frustration with the current options, which are too expensive or time-consuming for small businesses to implement effectively.
Easysearch is built and maintained by a solo developer. It started as a fun project to learn the Go programming language and has grown into a full software-as-a-service product. The core software is open-source, so if you need to, you can always host it yourself for free.
I recommend the paid service for solo creators or small businesses that don't want to spend the time or money building and maintaining their own Easysearch deployment. My goal is to make the cloud version of Easysearch as simple as possible to use so that you can set it and forget it.
